Your Kearny Life weekend guide: Things to do May 29-31

There are a number of great things to do this weekend including a number of fundraisers for good causes including a car wash and pasta night, there are some great programs for children and adults at the Kearny Library, a visually exciting lantern festival in a neighboring community and some al fresco dining suggestions. Have a great weekend!

Kearny Crew is holding a fundraiser event this Saturday, May 30th at EnjoyaBowls located at 341 Ridge Road in Lyndhurst. The event hours are 4pm-8pm. 35% of all sales will go to benefit the Kearny Crew team. Must bring flyer to show proof of purchase. Valid during event hours only. This is their last fundraising event this season so get out and support the team!

A fundraising Car Wash event for KGC Competition Cheer Team is scheduled for Sunday, May 31 starting at 9:00am and continuing to 2:00pm in the afternoon. The Cheer Team fundraiser will take place at the Kearny VFW on Belgrove Drive in Kearny. The price is just $10 per car so please come out and support the team for their competition season! 

Another fundraiser event for Sunday, May 31 is PASTA NIGHT at the Kearny American Legion Post 99 located at 314 Belgrove Drive in Kearny. The event is for members and invited guests and the donation is $25. Seats are limited so please RSVP soon to Ray Rivera 201-889-8759. All proceeds from this event will go towards the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA).

A West Hudson Community Blood Drive is taking place on Saturday, May 30 from 9:00am-3:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church of Arlington at 663 Kearny Ave., in Kearny.Sponsored in part by the Kearny-Bellville Elks 1050. This important event will last for 6 hours so there is plenty of time to stop by (or make an appointment) and do something important. Walk in’s are welcome, but appointments are encouraged.  

The Kearny Public Library, located at 318 Kearny Avenue, has multiple events on Friday, May 29. First on Friday is the Zumbini Preschool Program (ages 0-4 years)  at 11:00 am followed at 4:00 pm by a Sand Art Workshop for 1st grade and up. Then on Saturday, May 30 at 10:30 am is Adult Yoga Workshop.

It’s also always a great time on a Saturday morning to visit the Kearny Museum. The museum is open Saturdays. 10:00am-12:30pm and Wednesdays 5:00pm-6:30pm. You will be amazed at the rich Kearny history on display in the museum. https://kearnylibrary.org/events/

If you are looking to take a short ride to Montclair there is a Lantern Festival for Justice and Unity on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. This event is in its sixth year and is held by AAPI New Jersey. It takes place at Edgemont Park in Montclair. This evening event brings together thousands of people from the area to enjoy family-friendly activities, food trucks, art installations and more. If you are in the mood to dine out this weekend the weather should be perfect for some al fresco dining.
