A Best Seller Book Sale will take place this Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Salvation Army, 28 Beech Street in Kearny. The sale runs from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm. Browse hundreds of popular bestselling books across a variety of genres. A unique feature of this event is that knowledgeable staff and volunteers-who have read many of the featured books will be available to help guide you and recommend titles based on your interests. A FREE Walk-In Rabies Clinic held by the Town of Kearny Health Department will take place Saturday May 2, 2026 from 9:00 am – 11:30 pm. It will be held at the Department of Public Works at 337 Bergen Avenue in Kearny, NJ 07032  Dog and cat license renewal for 2026 $21:Non-neutered/Non-spayed $18: Neutered/Spayed with proof. Payment in cash, check or money order to “Town of Kearny”. If your pet has already received the rabies vaccine, the annual registration is available at the Kearny Department of Public Health which has been temporarily operating the Health Annex at 50 Belgrove Dr., Kearny NJ 07032. All are invited to the Kearny Museum, on Saturday, May 2 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm for a reception for Kearny’s first Kearnian Art Show. Art from community members will be on display at the reception as well as on May 6 from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. And also on May 9 from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Please note that the museum is located on the second floor of the Main Library, 318 Kearny Ave., Kearny. There will be an elevator available for visitors. Participating artists include Kearny High School students and teachers, a former Town Council member and local seniors. Lupus Awareness Ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on the steps on the Town Hall at 402 Kearny Avenue,  Saturday morning May 2, 2026 at 10:00 am. Through an initiative called CaringForLupus, town resident Elizabeth SantaCruz and her family have organized fundraising events and awareness campaigns, raising significant support for lupus research.

Their advocacy efforts culminate each year during Lupus Awareness Month in May, when they help lead ribbon-cutting ceremonies across multiple locations to bring visibility to the disease. Kearny Crew Car Wash the perfect event to give your prized car or truck a good cleaning. From 9:00 am to 2:00 pm this Saturday, May 2 (with a Sunday May 3rd rain date) crew members will be at The Boathouse at  950 Passaic Avenue, Kearny waiting to give your vehicle some tender loving care.  Cars are $10 and SUV’S/Trucks will be $15. All of the proceeds will benefit the KHS Crew. Donations are welcome! Let’s all help ROW the Kearny team to victory!

Annual KUEZ Town-Wide Yard & Sidewalk Sale! Whether you’re looking to clear out the garage or find some hidden treasures, this is the weekend to do it. Saturday and Sunday, May 2 and May 3 rain or shine residents of Kearny will be participating in what always proves to be a fun event with tremendous participation. So take a walk or ride around the neighborhood and check out all the items for sale! While you are shopping don’t miss out on the unique shops and eateries around town.

The Arlington Players Club will be having an open house this Saturday, May 2, 2026. Take a tour of this wonderful Kearny landmark that has been in operation playing tennis since 1909. The Club is located at 12 Washington Place, off of Washington Street and situated behind the Kearny Health Department and the headquarters of Girl Scouts of Hudson County in the 600 block of Kearny Avenue.Their seven red clay tennis courts are host to the USTA NJ National Red Clay Championship Tournament held in June. The Players Club has tennis lessons for all ages.

The Heaven Cent Thrift Shop will be open this Saturday, May 2 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm with lots of clothing and other items for your shopping needs. Stop by the First Presbyterian Church at 663 Kearny Ave., Kearny N.J. and enter through the side entrance. The thrift shop is open every Wednesday and Saturday. This Saturday is Bag Day Sale. Fill a bag with clothing and select shoes for only $20! Cash only.
