Calling all kids! Summer is almost here and to kick off the Memorial Day weekend beginning Friday, May 22nd the splash pad at West Hudson Park is officially open. The park will be open 9am-8pm 7 days a week for all to enjoy throughout the summer. This weekend a lot of rain is predicted so Monday, May 25 Memorial Day promises to be the best day for the splash pad park.
Note that NO water balloons are allowed and swim shoes are required. Seven other splash pads throughout Hudson County are open as well including Jersey City, Bayonne, Hoboken, North Bergen and Secaucus. For more information go to www.henj.us/parks.
We sometimes just think of Memorial Day weekend as the kick-off to summer fun, but it is a day dedicated to honor and remember the nation’s fallen service members. There will be a special American Flag placement ceremony at Soldier’s Circle at Arlington Memorial Park, located at 746 Schuyler Avenue, on Sunday, May 24, 2026. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 8:00am. All are invited to attend the service to honor our veterans.
The West Hudson Detachment Marine Corps League will be hosting a Pig Roast and Marine House 50th Anniversary on Sunday, May 24.. The festivities will take place 12-8pm at 286 Belgrove Drive in Kearny. $40 per member, $50 per member with 1 guest, and $45 for non-members. Children 12 and under are FREE.
This celebration will bring together members, supporters and the local community in a family-friendly event honoring the five decades of Marine House History. To see if last minute tickets are still available go to:

The Kearny Public Library, located at 318 Kearny Avenue, has multiple events on Friday and Saturday, May 22 and May 23. First on Friday is the Toddler Bubble Program w/Currier Magical Mania at 11:00 am followed at 4:00 pm by the Eyes of the Wild Live Animal Show.
Then on Sunday, May 23 at 10:30 am is Adult Yoga Workshop for teens and adults followed by an Adult Cooking Workshop at 11:00 am with Ms. Q. This is a free yoga session and everyone is encouraged to bring their own yoga mats.
Spring is here and summer is on its way. Although we usually think of outdoor activities at this time of year it’s also the perfect time to go bowling with family and friends. Have some great food and drinks and have some fun at The New North Arlington Bowl located at 200 Schuyler Ave., in North Arlington. They are now taking registrations for Summer Leagues as well. It’s always the right time to go bowling!!
