Weekend Guide: top things to do in and around Kearny , July 10–12

Meet Ben Franklin and Betsy Ross

On Friday, July 10 the Kearny Museum invites everyone to an American 250 Event featuring a presentation by historical figures Betsy Ross and Benjamin Franklin. The program will be held in the mail library and will begin promptly at 6:30 pm. The event is free to the public. What a great opportunity to experience the lives of two great iconic figures of the American founding.

Peruvian flag raising

The Peruvian Civic Association of NJ, Inc. (PCANJ) invites everyone on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. for the Peruvian Flag raising ceremony. The ceremony will take place at Peruvian Heritage Park located at 389 Passaic Ave. in Kearny. This event is to celebrate Peruvian roots, culture, and the dedication of all Peruvians who work every day to build a better community.

And then on the next day Sunday, July 12 beginning at 12:30 p.m. The Peruvian Civic and Cultural Parade begins at Harrison Town Hall and ends in front of Kearny Town Hall. I was at this parade last year and it was a wonderful celebration of Peruvian culture and community. The parade last year was full of vibrant floats and traditional Peruvian dancers. If there is one thing you should put on your to do list for the weekend is attend the Peruvian Parade!

Ironbound Italian festival

Also this weekend is the 136th Annual Our Lady of Mount Carmel Feast “Ironbound’s Only Italian Festival. The festival will take place for three days:  Friday, July 10th 6pm-11pm, Saturday, July 11th from 6-11pm and Sunday, July 12 from 3pm-11pm. This festival will be full of food, vendors, limoncello, cold beer, wine and live music! Flea market – Frank V Marina

If flea markets are your thing, come visit the Frank V Marina “Everything” Flea and Collectable market on Sunday, July 12 opening at 9:00am. The flea market is located at 277 Passaic Ave., in Kearny next to the Applebee’s. There will be plenty of vendors selling a variety of things including clothes, household items and collectables. It is always fun to just stroll around and perhaps find some treasures and bargains.

Yoga at the Nest

Saturday, July 11 from 10am-11am Curiosity by Nest will host Yoga at the Nest with Diana Nieves. The event will take place at Curiosity by Nest located at 161 Midland Ave., in Kearny. Spots are limited so you must R.S.V.P. curisositybynest.com. A free beginners class is available (donations accepted). Don’t forget to bring a Yoga mat and please don’t forget to RSVP. Curiosity by Nest continues to provide great community events. 

Volunteers needed Saturday

The Kearny Food Pantry Network needs volunteers to help with the next monthly food truck delivery on Saturday, July 11. The truck will arrive at First Presbyterian Church at approximately 10:00 am. If you have 30-60 minutes to spare, they could really use some help moving the boxes from the truck into the Food Pantry. The Pantry is located at 663 Kearny Ave. (corner of Laurel Ave.) No responses are necessary just stop by.

Community play meet up

On Saturday morning July 11, 2026 from 10:00am-12pm SenseAble Solutions is inviting families with neurodivergent children of all abilities to a fun Community Play Meetup in West Hudson Park. The event will take place near the East Playground area & basketball court. This welcoming playdate is a chance to connect, play and belong. There is no cost to attend, but they would love to know that you’re coming. Please RSVP by emailing at info@sensablespaces.com.
