Press release / Kearny Urban Enterprise Zone (KUEZ)

The scarecrows are ready! Residents and visitors are invited to stroll the avenues to enjoy and vote for their favorite scarecrow creations now through October 31.

Nearly 60 scarecrows of all shapes, sizes and characters have been created by Kearny
businesses residents and community groups and are on display throughout Town.

“We’re once again thrilled with the response to the Scarecrow Stroll,” said Linda Kraus D’Isa, Kearny Urban
Enterprise Zone (KUEZ) Coordinator which is sponsoring the event.. “There is a great mix of
creativity and imagination this year!”

The public can view and vote for their favorite creation as they “Stroll” Kearny Avenue, as well
as parts of Midland Avenue and Elm Street through Halloween! Cast your ballot for your favorite
scarecrow in each of three different categories -” Most Creative,” “Best Kearny Spirit,” and
“Spookiest.”

Each Scarecrow will be holding a unique QR code allowing everyone to easily vote
for their favorites. You may only vote once per scarecrow, but you can cast a vote for as many
different scarecrows as you’d like! Photos of each Scarecrow will also be available on the
website for you to vote there as well www.kearnyscarecrowstroll.com/scarecrows.

D’Isa noted that a record number of local shops and restaurants are participating this year.
“These Scarecrows are located right outside their sponsoring business.” The KUEZ created the
Scarecrow Stroll as part of an overall initiative to get residents and visitors to stroll the business
districts here in Kearny and support local!
