Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and whether you’re planning a grand romantic gesture or a simple way to show someone you care, you don’t have to look far. From sweet treats that give back to meaningful gifts that sparkle — or smell just right — Kearny’s local shops are offering plenty of ways to celebrate love this season. Whether you’re shopping for a longtime partner, a new Valentine, or even a friend or family member, these hometown businesses have something special to help make Feb. 14 memorable. From candy fundraisers and engagement-ready jewelry to signature scents and fresh floral arrangements, Kearny has you covered.
Candy for a cause

The Kearny–Belleville Elks Lodge 1050 is hosting a candy fundraiser featuring chocolate-covered strawberries and pretzels. Supporters can choose from three gift options: a dozen pretzels for $15, a dozen strawberries for $25, or a mixed box with a half dozen of each for $30. Orders must be paid for by Feb. 10.
To ensure the freshest treats, pickup will take place Feb. 13 from 3 to 7 p.m. at 601 Elm St. in Kearny. For more information, email Kearny1050@gmail.com. Orders can be placed using the Elks candy order form.
Proceeds will benefit the Kearny–Belleville Elks Drug Awareness Committee, which is dedicated to preventing drug use and abuse and promoting a drug-free environment for children and families.
Popping the Question?

If Valentine’s Day comes with a proposal, Kearny Gold Store owner Joseph Labrincha says couples have more options than ever — from timeless mined diamonds to this year’s standout trend: lab-grown stones. Created from a seed of a natural diamond and grown in a laboratory, lab-grown diamonds offer the same brilliance at a more affordable price point. Labrincha says their rising popularity is also driven by their ethical appeal, as they avoid the social and environmental impacts associated with traditional mining.
For those not quite ready to pop the question, sterling silver is having a moment. No need to worry about tarnish as pieces are now finished with tarnish-resistant rhodium plating. The Kearny Gold Store is located at 181 Kearny Ave.
