KUEZ Scarecrow Stroll returns to bring fall fun back to Kearny

Press release – The Kearny Scarecrow Stroll & Contest is returning this October, inviting residents, businesses, schools and community organizations to transform Kearny and Midland avenues into a festive display of creativity. Registration is now open through Oct. 10 for anyone who wants to build a scarecrow and take part in what has quickly become one of the town’s newest fall traditions.

“Last year’s Stroll really captured the spirit of our community in a way that totally exceeded expectations. The enthusiasm and creativity was really incredible, helping energize our shopping districts as people ‘strolled’ and voted for their favorites, said Linda Kraus D’Isa, KUEZ coordinator and sponsors of the event.

Here’s how it works:

Create your Scarecrow!

Any and all Kearny — residents, businesses, community organizations and school groups — are invited to build the wildest, cleverest, funniest scarecrows they can imagine (within Stroll guidelines, of course) Register now through October 10 by visiting www.kearnyscarecrowstroll.com

Judge the Scarecrows

From October 17 – 31, the Scarecrows will be on display on Kearny and Midland Avenues. That’s also when voting begins! Everyone and anyone is invited to vote for their favorite scarecrow in categories including “The Best Kearny Spirit, “Spookiest,” and “Most Creative.” New this year will be a special category for “Best of Businesses.” Prizes will be awarded!

Judging will also be updated this year with winners in all categories being selected by a combination of a popular vote by the community and a select group of local judges.

We hope the Stroll will again bring the community and businesses together, encourage walking throughout town, and bring a festive fall feel to Kearny,” said D’Isa, “And as you ‘stroll,’ please take the opportunity to visit our wonderful restaurants and businesses along the Avenues,” she added.
